  1. There are more ideas here than many bands manage in their entire career, but in inimitable Maiden style, it's woven together beautifully.
  2. Now they've reinforced their position as the credible elder statesmen of metal, with a tightly focused, self-referential effort.

Only Iron Maiden know if this is their last hurrah. But if it is, they're going out the same way they came in: fearless, adventurous, and with a record that'll still bowl you over in a decade's time. [7 Aug 2010, p.50]
  4. The Final Frontier is the kind of record that takes several listens to truly appreciate, but it's definitely worth it.
  5. Nearly 77 minutes, The Final Frontier calls for a harsher edit and, of course, Maiden's early punk tenacity.

Steel-plated national treasures hit the epic button. [Sept. 2010, p. 117]
  7. Maiden have long had a knack for the lung-busting chorus, but what impresses here are the complicated arrangements.

Maiden has once again proven that they are the kings of the metal genre. Space, Death, Arthurian Legend, love, hate and nuclear devastation all brought under one umbrella, this album proves that Iron Maiden is still relevant to the metal world.

Standout Tracks: Mother of Mercy, Isle of Avalon, The Talisman, When the Wild Wind Blows.

(coming Home, Starblind, Mother of Mercy) Not an easy album to get into so will probably require a few listens but this is more great Maiden. Expand

Finally listening to this album in its entirety. Some thoughts. Satellite 15 is an excellent opening track. The segue into Final Frontier andFinally listening to this album in its entirety. Some thoughts. Satellite 15 is an excellent opening track. The segue into Final Frontier and the following 4 tracks are all garbage. Has Maiden forgotten how to write memorable short songs? I don't see a need to listen to that kind of mediocrity from Maiden again. The album finally starts to click with the Isle of Avalon and maintains that pace through The Man Who Would Be King. The last song, WTWWB gets a thumbs down. Bruce's uninspired vocals really grate on my nerves for most of the song. Hearing him phone it in and lazily sing along with the guitar melody is hardly the "Wild" I was expecting. When he finally does can it, the instrumental pieces are decent. Overall, it's the weakest of all of Maiden's epic songs. Taken as a whole album there are only 4 songs I would consider revisiting but are they good because the rest of the album is terrible? Hard to say. Isle of Avalon is the stand out but not really at the same time. Expand
