Not a good album. It has a couple of catchy tracks but it's not cohesive and it's almost exploitive. There's just not much substance and the rapping/beats are mostly sub par.

a few good songs, but not a great ALBUM. thrift shop was fresh and new. same love has wonderful lyrics that are both heartfelt and relevant to our time, however the rest of the songs just kind of move by without inspiring the litterer as much as you would have expected due to the couple strong songs on the album.

This is so horrible. The songs make no sense what so ever. I don't even understand why Macklemore is famous. He is only famous because of Ryan Lewis. Do not listen to this garbage.

Without a shadow of a doubt The Heist is one of the WORST rap albums of all-time this is a poor excuse for rap. Eminem will be sat at home laughing as this is no competition. This album is an embarrassment as is most of modern rap.

Lyrics are notoriously stupid and have no meaning pizazz! Kendrick Lamar should've won the Grammy for Best Rap Album not this disgraceful mess of a so-called "album"! Awful, and nothing but AWFUL!!!

His imaginative, smartly delivered lyrics hold the attention during those moments when producer Lewis's beats don't quite match them for sparkle. [Apr 2013, p.94]

The record has its charms (the single "Thrift Shop," a cheeky ode to second-hand duds) and its virtues (the marriage-equality anthem "Same Love"). Unfortunately, MackĀlemore's virtuousness overwhelms his far more modest charms.

Macklemore's a mix of all of the above with some distinctive qualities, and with Lewis putting that kaleidoscope style underneath, The Heist winds up a rich combination of fresh and familiar.
