There aren't a lot of bands that can pull off making something so quiet and unassuming but with as much emotional pull and drama as The House at Sea. Amor de Días do it with ease.

The album is loaded with atmosphere, but there are pop "hits", so to speak, here too.

The partners deftly sustain a mood of languor through a dozen tracks of varying tone and texture. [Apr 2013, p.67]

Alternatively gentle and jangly, The House At Sea is a delight. [No. 95, p.52]

Ultimately, The House at Sea provides an ideal aural retreat, a tranquil locale where calm waters create minimal waves.

While the best work of the Clientele created worlds, The House at Sea charmingly aspires to being a photo album, something to inspire your own travels rather than serve as a substitute for them.

The material here is as comfortable as breakfast on the veranda in your bathrobe. [Jan-Feb 2013, p.86]
