  1. The Humbucking Coil's captivating soundscapes evoke more emotion via machines than most bands can with "real" instruments. [Mar 2006, p.138]
  2. This increased humanism lends Fleischmann's compositions an evolutionary sense of dynamism, thawing out his stern soundscapes.
  3. 70
    A mesmeric 45 minutes. [Mar 2006, p.122]
  4. A Sunday-nap headphone-record that successfully conveys emotion.
  5. Fleischmann goes to the same well perhaps a little too often here… but if the well is full of something that tastes good, why wouldn't you go there as often as you can?
  6. The Humbucking Coil doesn't really tread any new ground for Fleischmann, but it's another enjoyable and solid little release in his discography.
  7. The tracks fail to hang together in a convincing way -- often giving the impression that they were more or less strung together on a whim.
  8. A languid mood piece with discreet variations, Coil is a pleasant, if homogeneous, listening experience.

This album is really good to hear from start to end. Each song is related to the other in some way.

quietness, clicks, and drones, and beats to keep it moving, the occasional voice only distracts

I'd call this ambient. great for a long commute. Will nicely knumb your brain for that gross bus ride.
