  • Summary: The Evan Dando-led band (now down to a trio) returns with its first studio disc in ten years. J Mascis guests.

  1. The Lemonheads is nearly as great as the band's masterpiece, It's A Shame About Ray, and far more dependable than the runner-up Come On Feel The Lemonheads. And it may be more fun than either.
  2. Under The Radar

It represents maturity and growth, all the while retaining the essence of what made The Lemonheads great. [#15]
  3. The best thing that can be said about The Lemonheads is that it sounds like the album Dando and company should have released in 1995.
  4. The first Lemonheads record in 10 years makes a great case for meat and potatoes, verses and choruses, distortion pedals and minimal production.
  5. Most listeners with a soft spot for those early-90s Lemonheads records will get a good spin out of The Lemonheads.
  6. There's a broken feeling about this album, a resignation that reflects the trouble of the intervening years.
  7. The Lemonheads is full of, for better or worse, comfort music. It radiates a blunted nostalgic glow that seeps through the frequent musical languor.

A couple songs sound a bit out of place, but are good - and they provide needed change of pace in this excellent power pop CD.

Excellent return to form from Dando. A little too short given the long wait, but overall everything an excellent pop record should be...

My expectations were high, and they were met--maybe even exceeded. A great album that stands up with the best 'Heads stuff from the My expectations were high, and they were met--maybe even exceeded. A great album that stands up with the best 'Heads stuff from the 90's. Better, more consistent than Baby I'm Bored, and more upbeat and fun. Expand

I love the Lemonheads' great catalogue of good songs, but this album is only half-good. There are some winners and stinkers on it...

Definitly not dando best release. How ever I'll take any thing consistant espacially with the all star cast he lined up to record the disc.
