Despite restlessly exploring hitherto untrodden musical terrain, there are precious few wasted seconds in these three hours.

With staggering live versions of Spoon and Mushroom to boot, The Lost Tapes turns out to be even rarer than its contents: a collection almost as vital as Can's official album output.

A treasure chest of riches that provides considerable new perspective on the band's processes and progress through the years.

The Lost Tapes is no barrel-scraping… it's more dark magic straight from the source.

The Lost Tapes is such an impressive testament to Can's inspiration and questing spirit that without being greedy, one hopes that there may be more tapes sequestered away. [Jul 2012, p.96]

The Lost Tapes isn't an easy album to listen to, but then that was never the case with Can. Nonetheless, as the years pass and more bands form, by default their influence grows, which makes this a fascinating addition to any collection.

With both music and curation straying into increasingly beguiling territories The Lost Tapes is as delightful as it is overwhelming.
