    Best album of the Year, Favorite Rap Album Ever now. Sonic Hellscapes, Grime, Rap-Punk Vocals and Screeches Make this sound like nothing else ive heard in years

    "The Money Store" is A fresh, mind bottling, catch-your-breath kind of record. Death Grips explosiveness seems more "catchy" on this one (relatively to "Exmilitary") but don't let that fool you; MC RIDE still scream and shout into the mike, Zach Hill drumming is powerful and haunting and the BEATS [oh, the beats] are phenomenal. The production on "The money store" is flawless;"The Money Store" is A fresh, mind bottling, catch-your-breath kind of record.     Wild ride from start to finish. Death Grips have found the formula, then proceeded to take a dump on it. MC Ride's lyrics and flow are perfect, production is incredible, the hooks are brilliant, and Zach Hill's drumming is outstanding. Utterly amazing.

    Nice album. The Money Store is a breath of fresh air. If you've listene to their first album, Exmilitary, then i would say your in for a treat. Death Grips comes in hard on the new album, setting a crazy tempo that will fluctuate throughout the album, keeping the listener is a satisfiying, shocking state. Zach Hill (drummer) continues to be the peice that sets this show apart from otherNice album. The Money Store is a breath of fresh air. Zach Hill (drummer) continues to be the peice that sets this show apart from other hip-hop fusion acts. at times, it's hard to remmber that its live drumming, but the crazy time signatures will suddenly remind you. Production is super-clean despite the array of gritty, distorted samples. lyrics are dark, but not pretentious. this album is not for everyone, thats for sure, but even if u like it a little bit, there'll come an intoxicated night in your future where you'll be glad u have it on deck.… Collapse

    This album has inspired me to start making electronic music. I'm from Sacramento and until recently I had not heard of them but no I think that they are awesome. This record is my favorite record so far from 2012. I look forward to No Love.

    The Money Store is chaotic, agressive, abstract, strange and quite innovating. You hardly will listen someone sounds like Death Grips - they are its own genre.

    Okay so essentially imagine a homeless black man imagines what pop will sound like in 20 years, but being brought up in downtown Sacremento (wat) he just can't shake his hip-hop roots. Yeah that's pretty much what I feel Death Grips were going for here.

    This is one of those albums you listen to, and because of your love for it, look for more like it, but come to a rude awakening when you see it's one of a kind.

    It's still new, but in the two years since it was put out, it's become clear to me that this is my favorite hip hop album of all time. Better than It Takes a Nation of Millions? Yes. Better than 3 Feet High? Yes. Better than 36 Chambers? Yes.
    Every track has so much going on in it that the replay value is through the roof. And despite Death Grips being a band that sounds esoteric    It's still new, but in the two years since it was put out, it's become clear to me that this is my favorite hip hop album of all time.     Every track has so much going on in it that the replay value is through the roof. And despite Death Grips being a band that sounds esoteric and inaccessible on paper, the hooks on nearly every track are among the catchiest you'll hear. The album is fast paced, having as much in common with hardcore punk as it does hip hop, and it isn't light listen by any means.
    MC Ride shows off his quieter, but still fast paced flow in Get Got, and maintains his lungbursting screaming on most other tracks, while Zach Hill's breakneck drumming drives the beats, supported by Flatlander's incredible performance as a producer on the record, making this one of the most unique listens you'll ever have the pleasure to come across.    … Expand

    Hold on to your ass: this album is a piece of work.

    If you are looking for something unique but brutal, bordering on incoherent, then behold The Money Store. Unrelentingly intense and profane, industrial and alienating. Strong beats, stronger hooks, strongest overall experience I've seen in a while.

    This was the first Death Grips album I listened to, now I have the entire discography on my phone. I pretty much exclusively listen to this band now. There isn't anything I can say which hasn't been said already. The instrumentals hit hard, Ride's vocals are brutal and fantastic and Zach's drumming is great. In my opinion, the best Death Grips album.

Along with Channel Orange, good kid m.A.A.d. city and Visions, this is one of the best records of 2012 and possibly of the decade. If you want for something punk/industrial/hip-hop/noiseIntense, obscure, grumey, brutal, somewhat incoherent, punkiest, raw, catchy, mortal, forward-thinking, visceral, mind-bottling; those are few of the words I could describe this incredible record. Along with Channel Orange, good kid m.A.A.d. city and Visions, this is one of the best records of 2012 and possibly of the decade. If you want for something punk/industrial/hip-hop/noise influenced, vocally, instrumentally and lyrically ground-breaking, while maintaining catchy and structured songs, this is probably your record. It's not for everyone, and probably you will have mixed feelings at first or just hate it, but when it clicks, it's instantaneous. Awesome ****

    Went on this album with impossible expectations and somehow they were surpassed.
    Death Grips is a truly "unique" group and The Money Store is one hell of a first impression (without counting their "Exmilitary" mix tape).

    A true standout for experimental hip hop. Every track on here is amazing, MC Ride is captivating over the glitchy beats on this album. The lyrics are immense and amazing. One of the best albums of the decade and a true boundary pusher for hip hop.

    I love this album, when i first heard it i really hated it because of the sound. After i got used to the unorthodox sound i loved it. This is one of the greatest albums of the 2010's for sure.

    This album really grows on one if it is given ample of listen time, and if one is brave enough. It has some very catchy, innovative hooks, along with production that is chef's kiss. It really makes you get into the mind of the mentally diseased person they are trying to get into the mind of.     This album is a masterpiece and is one of the best if not the best album of the 2010’s. It is just amazing. The production is top notch with lyrics that is meaningful and amazing. The vocals are better every time I listen to it and everything is amazing

    Death Grips burst into the mainstream with the Money Story in a way no other group could’ve imagined before, by instead of making expressing songs with lyrics trying to say something poetic, they just make a great album by simply making an album with their ideas and McRide expressing the discomfort and the disgust with the music genre

The opener "Get Got" is by far one of the best tracks I've heard in a really long time, probably ever. The Production, the drumming, MCThis is truly unlike any hip-hop/punk record I've ever heard.     Definitely one of the more interesting albums so far this year.
    It brings the raw , unconstrained emotion and power of their first album to a purpose for this and have produced an amazing album with it.

    Is this experimental hip-hop? 30 minutes in it felt more like Rage Against the Machine then a Nas album. Either way it was entertaining and a great way to spend 40 minutes.

    Fantastic record, interesting from start to finish. Love MC Ride's lyrics on this, Get Got and The Fever are obvious belters however I've Seen Footage, The Cage and Hacker are also amazing tunes.

    I only recently started listening to Death Grips because I watch The Needle Drop's reviews and he gave this album a 10/10 and their other albums acclaim too - but I never thought I would have liked it as much as I do. The Money Store was, without a doubt, one of the best albums of the year 2012. Death Grips isn't for everyone - if you don't want to hear songs with loud noises andI only recently started listening to Death Grips because I watch The Needle Drop's reviews and he gave this album a 10/10 and their other albums acclaim too - but I never thought I would have liked it as much as I do. The Money Store was, without a doubt, one of the best albums of the year 2012. Death Grips isn't for everyone - if you don't want to hear songs with loud noises and unhearable raps, you probably won't like this album, or Death Grips in general. Death Grips is pretty much what I would describe Rage Against the Machine meets Skrillex with some Bjork thrown in for good measure (especially NOTM). They're probably one of the most original bands I've heard in a while - and I think they're more influential than I thought at first. Kanye West combined their style with his typical hip hop to make Yeezus in 2013 - and now this band is one of the most popular experimental hip hop bands. The production here is great, I like the electronic stuff that Andy Morin has done - and it may be a little noisy at times but I think it's original, experimental and enjoyable. Zach Hill drums on the majority of the songs - and he keeps the beat well, he's really good. I can barely hear MC Ride rapping on the majority of the songs here - but he's probably one of the most aggressive rappers that I've ever heard in my life. This album probably would have been a higher 9 or a 10 if I could hear Ride rapping and be able to pick out the lyrics. But, overall, this is a very impressive debut and I really hope Death Grips doesn't break up soon like they said they would. Grade: A-. Highlights: "Get Got", "Lost Boys", "Punk Weight".     Most Death Grips projects do not fail in giving off the soothing feeling of a mentally insane homeless guy screaming into your ear. Funnily enough though, that homeless man (MC Ride) went on to be one of my personal favorite rappers. Listening to THE MONEY STORE is likely to trigger a headache, though said headache is very stimulating, similar to the effect many drugs have.

But after listening to this record, I was genuinely surprised. MC Ride's lyricism (from what I could hear) was pretty interesting and even genius at points. But what really sells the album is the immaculate production. As I said, I've never cared for sounds reminiscent of things like metal, scream, and hell even electric. But, this album combines all of that,into an almost perfect combination sound that was just electrifying to hear. Death Grips's discography is one that I would be more than willing to explore, no matter the sound.… Expand

For the beginning you are pummeled by the sheer force of sound being thrown at you which stays constant throughout the whole tracklist. They managed to make an algamation of rap,metal and punk that doesn't sound trashy. They have this urgency that can sometimes make the album exhausting but often feels like a mosh pit converted into sound.     I really love the dark, gritty sound of this album. The song **** Please” is definitely my favourite song, If I’m going to introduce someone to Death Grips I’d definitely start with that song. The song **** Please” is definitely my favourite song, If I’m going to introduce someone to Death Grips I’d definitely start with that song.     Blends hip-hop with electronic beats and a punk mentality. Each track is it's own experience. Everything Death Grips does here would make for an exciting time at the club. Listening to it all at once though is problematic. All the songs stand well on their own, but that comes at the cost of cohesion.     I like what The Money Store has to offer. It shows that Death Grips is interested in doing things no other artists are. Therefore it's likely to withstand the scrutiny of even the snobbiest of music experts (self-appointed or otherwise) even if they don't have the stomach for the excessively vulgar lyrical content. There are tracks here I'll return to time and time again, with only a few forgettable ones. I just hope the group's later material fits together better. Because that's what will make sit through an entire album all at once, rather than just a mishmash of my favorite works.

One cannot judge it by the standards of other music, simply because it is too weird. WIth that said, this album is impressive for one that what it is an invitation into a weird musical world.     I wish to like this rekord one day. I think it is extremely creative and cool how they manage the loud raw sounds. I just find it so hard to listen to. I can appreciate its greatness, but i can not force myself to like it.

    Very cool instrumentals and definitely very experimental but good god is it hard to listen to. I get why people that really like this album as it is certainly different but it's just not my cup of tea.

    This album is so overrated, I can't stomach to listen to any song on this album almost every song is a skip. it sounds like dubstep and **** rap had a baby with an extra chromosome.

    This is literally the worst **** ive ever experienced. My kids abandoned me, my wife thinks imma pimp and all of this is because of Death Grips. Thanks god they stay irrelevant and nobody talks about them nowadays.
