  • Summary: They may not be easy to look up in search engines, but this very-much-rock quartet from Leeds, England could be found in all the UK music magazines, thanks to a much sought-after EP and this debut album.

  1. The Music is an incredible effort and a brilliant example of where rock could be headed.
  2. The band's formula for its high-energy, rock-dance mélange is quite simple; take youthful exuberance (average age: 19), add an exceptionally-tight rhythm section, and let the superfluous, over-indulgent jams flow, as they most certainly do over the course of ten songs and just over 55 minutes on this most promising debut.

Though it flags towards the end, The Music is, for the most part, a shot in the arm. [Oct 2002, p.110]
  4. 58
What's most British about the Music is their tendency to try way too hard. [Apr 2003, p.108]
  5. A headache-inducing mess of rehashed classic rock riffs and stale grooves.
  6. For now at least this is the sound of a band trying to do too much at once and sinking under the weight of their heroes.
  7. How anyone can describe Leeds' The Music as a "best new band" is beyond me. Unless they're over fifty, sport a footballer's perm and weep at Almost Famous.

Amazing CD, dont believe it got so many bad reviews. I can understand when they same it adheres too much to a formula, but this formula is so near perfect, its unreal. Expand

This album is great. Totally consistant with some great tracks that get you moving. Cant understand why the Meta score is only 53 but should up in the 80's. Go see them live (and i have twice) and the blow you away! Expand

Huge in scope, huge in delivery, but definitely not for everyone. If your idea of a great rock record is anything mainstream or in the likes of U2 you probably won't quite get what they're trying to do here. If you dig it, all the more power to your adventurous side. Expand

Its A Good Album. They Need To Learn How To Write Songs (lyricly) though their sound is dynamic enough to pass for a decent album and an amazing live show. They're better live. Go See them doing that!. Expand
