  • Summary: Yes, as you may have surmised, this is the real new Fall full-length (just one in a very, very long line of releases from the amazingly prolific Mark E. Smith and company). Originally titled 'Country On The Click,' this album was leaked in early stages on the Internet, but has since been remixed and resequenced. Expand

Great by Smith's standards. Practically genius by everybody else's. [Feb 2004, p.74]
  2. This is the sound, throughout, of a remarkable institution doing all the things they do best and sounding as alive as they ever have.
  3. The Real New Fall LP is as solid and interesting as anything the group has released in the last ten years.
  4. Incomprehensible but irresistible.
  5. If the Fall... have not just released their best record in a decade, they have certainly released a more consistent and accessible one, just in time for the tail-end of the post-punk renaissance.

The mood is unsettling, exhausted and energetic at the same time. [Oct 2004, p.120]

If The Fall fell out of favor with you because of their dubious output in the last decade+, this album will restore your faith! I hope MES has more in him like this one. Expand

Their best in over a decade, at least -- a rejuvenated band hitting another prime.

I just can't stop playing MES latest offering. Many may disagree, but I think he becomes more coherent with age. A man with much to say, and cracking tunes to boot. Radiohead take note. Expand

I have ALWAYS loved the Fall... in large part because of the reactions over the years from the people in my life when I first play them the Fall. "Utter dismay" might be a good way to characterize the response. I have grown used to many fair-to-middling releases surfacing from the band, occasionally interspersed with a F***K*N brilliant record. THE REAL NEW FALL LP is one of those shining moments. I guess it's time to invite over the friends and family! Expand

their best album since the mid-90's " middle class revolt" i would rate it: 8.5 , if it was possible.
