This is a very reflective record that refuses to exist only on one level, and though it's a cliche to say it, the more you put into it, the more you'll get out of it. [1 Feb 2014, p.52]

The Satanist is as untamed and direct as its title suggests: a flawless paean to free will and the human spirit.

You will be hard pressed to find another album that is as essential and equal parts human and inhuman as The Satanist, a world-beating return from near death for Behemoth’s enigmatic emperor.

The Satanist is a terrific coil of most everything Behemoth have ever done well, a strangely hopeful vision of hell wrested away from its very grip.

They're career musicians active since the '90s, but here, they actually sound excited again.

Behemoth sound revitalized and ready to destroy everything that stands in their path, and fans should be ready to either go along for the ride or be crushed.

Instead of cowering, Behemoth have triumphantly returned with characteristic ugliness and chaos, though this is skillfully juxtaposed with a newfound delicacy.

Absolutely mind-blowing. I'm not a fan of Behemoth, didn't like previous 9 albums, but this is the best metal album of last few years.Absolutely mind-blowing. I'm not a fan of Behemoth, didn't like previous 9 albums, but this is the best metal album of last few years. Powerful, containing many beautiful melodies, there is no weak song. Perfect drumming, bass and guitar works, perfect sound of Negral's growl, great mixing, a lot of memorable moments, for example In the Absence ov Light and declamation of Witold Gombowicz by Nergal - it's something beautiful. Poland can be proud of this album. Expand

Album does nothing new or old. Neither shreds, nor brutalizes. Satan is pissed cuz' this album is terrible in comparison to other Behemoth releases.
