Her arresting voice holds it all together with unassuming grace. [11 Mar 2005, p.104]
  2. This sounds very much like the record Deana Carter has always wanted to make
  3. Story of My Life is polished, but it's far from slick; it's honest, wears its heart on its sleeve and is full of imagination, grace, and spit.
  4. Carter’s an artist clearly capable of making a great album. The Story of My Life isn’t it, but it’s a start.
  5. Story is a couple gems short of excellence, but Carter has expanded her unaffected charm beyond the twang thang.

Evokes Juliana Hatfield more than Shania Twain. [Apr/May 2005, p.127]
  7. The Story of My Life should definitely please fans of her earlier records and anyone with a taste for quote-unquote country music. But if she's on a quest for something more personal, more original, she's got some more miles to travel.

The Story Of My life is simply one the best album Deana Carter makes. She puts her soul into this and you can hear it. It's awesome album.

Shows how she can grow when not bound by Nashville.
