This is a fun album, and one crafted with such impressive care and attention that even a few hardcore rockist musos might not be able to keep from being carried away.

Their gentle, dreamy glide sounds like Foals without the hubbud. [Apr 2013, p.111]

Mostly, what their reliance on groove rather than tune adds up to is dirge.

For the most part it’s a successful approach, etching out real depth from twisting jaunts like the excellent ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Jamaica’. But as soon as they tread away from the angular indie pop paradigm, Theme Park begin to lose their edge.

There's some post-winter optimism to be had in its relentless good cheer, but for the most part, it's too indistinguishable from the rest of the pack to have much of an impact.

You want the mix to jump and pound and excite. But it doesn’t, and the choruses feel hung out to dry. This makes for a frustrating listen, because the talent is there – damn, even the songs are there.

In a record where there are a minor derivations on a tried and tested formula, 'Still Life' is a major curveball; a high-risk almost jazz-like number that's almost ruined by the strange whizzing noise that could easily be a kazoo teasing its wares throughout.

This is a hugely charismatic debut that, above everything else, is just very good fun.
