  1. Archer Prewitt returns to the whip-smart pop sensibilities that defined his first two LPs, upping the ante to reveal an altogether new sophistication and complexity that spur his music to unexpected heights of brilliance.
  2. Alternative Press
    60
It's meticulously arranged and inoffensive, but well-played enough to keep you from falling asleep. [Aug 2002, p.80]
  3. While "Three" itself is only occasionally lively, thanks to Prewitt's strong grasp of sun-bleached summer music and '60s psychedelia, the disc overflows with good ideas and pretty little melodies.
  4. Magnet
    70
Not nearly as tear-stained as his 2000 mini-album Gerroa Songs, Three zeroes in on the uptempo, if not the upbeat. [#55, p.84]
  5. Mojo
    80
The album is packed with sunny tunes which carry a '60s and '70s feel, but Prewitt never coasts. [July 2002, p.104]
  6. As with most of the 70s sensitive guy genre though, a lot of the music here toes the schmaltz line. And by the second half of Three, Prewitt's tripped right over it, landing in dangerous Neil Diamond territory.
  7. Prewitt doesn't waste a second of Three's near-hour length, filling it with an affinity of bouncy rhythms and pop goodness, in turn eclipsing the output of many of his underground rock contemporaries.
  8. One hell of a good album.... [It] retains the intelligence of Prewitt's Sea and Cake work and melds it to rock and roll songcraft.
  9. The Wire
    70
Suavely assembled big band pop. [#220, p.66]
  10. Uncut
    60
While this album is furnished by post-rock's brittle, metallic sound, Prewitt's songs are full of chamber pop's gilded warmth.... A fine, if overlong, album. [Jul 2002, p.118]

Great sounding poppy cd, one of the best released this year.
