    Tides End is so smooth that some of its nuances may be lost at first, but before it slips away, it takes listeners on a deceptively breezy and surprisingly affecting journey through moments that can't last.

    It’s the change in an almost overall sound--when acts like The Human League, OMD, Ultravox, and Depeche Mode weren’t the only ones making ample use of keyboards--and Kilfoyle captures this incredibly well while retaining a still-in-formation yet already distinct MINKS sound, much in the way many formerly post-punk bands retained their own certain darkness throughout.

    It’s an interesting mix of the wide-eyed and sparkly and the beachfront and nonchalant that makes for a hugely radio-friendly record that won’t dent your credibility.

    Although a very interesting album, Tides End fails to separate itself from the rest of the pop/alternative and electro albums that haveAlthough a very interesting album, Tides End fails to separate itself from the rest of the pop/alternative and electro albums that have flooded the music world. Tides End might have that 80's pop feel, but the music here is uninteresting and sounds like many other albums that delve into the world of 80's funk electro that this album tries to grasp, this album doesn't have potential because it reached it, and that's what is sad about it. Tides End feels familiar and none of the songs separate themselves from the others. Tides End isn't bad, but it isn't great, and it isn't anything new.… Expand
