  • Summary: The Hives, Fall Out Boy, Elton John, Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado are among the guests on the prolific hip-hop producer's latest solo disc.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 24
  2. Negative: 5 out of 24
  1. Shock Value is a far-reaching and ambitious disc; a masterpiece, even, in its own way.
  2. Timbaland's good stuff — ''Oh Timbaland,'' ''Bounce'' (with Timberlake, Dre and Elliott), and half a dozen others — is really good: music that moves the hips and stirs the head.
  3. [It] would be more accurately titled Timbaland Presents Slight Confusion or Timbaland Presents an Uneven Mess.
  4. Most of Shock Value confirms that Timbaland is most valuable when he's in the background.
  5. Uncut

    It's strangely joyless. [Jun 2007, p.115]
  6. A long collection of awful ideas and recycled ideas in the absence of an Idea.

This album is great. To this day, every song is still fresh. To me, at least.

although the rock part isn't very good, this album has many original and absurd tracks. timbaland has always been ahead of his time, as although the rock part isn't very good, this album has many original and absurd tracks. timbaland has always been ahead of his time, as are some of the tracks on this album. don't expect anything from this man, because he will always do the exact opposite. It has it flaws, but when he gets it spot on no one can deny his talent. Their are lots of risks which pay off.

Definitely not great, even with big singles behind it. Definitely better than a "NOW 69" album. If you boy compilation cds like NOW and all Definitely not great, even with big singles behind it. Definitely better than a "NOW 69" album. If you boy compilation cds like NOW and all other types, this would be great for you. It's good pop from good artists. Just slightly better than the usual mainstream dribble. Expand
