They played slick, heroic neo-grunge for the Clear Channel era, where all regions melted into one long, Nickelback impression. They're still clinging to that anthemic plod a decade later, like an eight year-old who can't bear to throw out a dead hamster.

If you already like 3 Doors Down (and plenty do), then Time of My Life will be another album worth listening to; if you're one of the people who liked "Kryptonite", it's probably not worth bothering.

Unfortunately, the lack of powerful hooks, either in the melodies or riffs, means that all that coloring is on a grayscale, keeping Time of My Life a muted black-and-white exercise in half-hearted soul-searching.

This one takes the title of the most generic set of rock-pop songs I have ever listened to. I was almost laughing out loud as I went through each track, each one more repetitive musically and lyrically than the last. A few of the melodies are pleasant and I do recall enjoying a few of their previous hits, but this album is just plain lazy and worse: boring. Many of the songs sound like they could have been written by a machine. Full Review »
