    This album lacks the organic unpredictability of both Brazilian hip-hop and samba. While the tracks are tight and well produced, they are too square and mechanical.

    It's really strange listening to music that is well done by the main artist, but is made absolutely terrible by the featured artists. That is exactly the case here. Sergio Mendes creates a cool vibe that is ruined by the heat generated by the star power. I rather listen to frogs croaking for 12 straight hours than listen to this album again. In fact the frog probably has better lyricalIt's really strange listening to music that is well done by the main artist, but is made absolutely terrible by the featured artists. I rather listen to frogs croaking for 12 straight hours than listen to this album again. In fact the frog probably has better lyrical than Will I Am. Let me tell you I am a pretty big Sergio Mendes fan, but the choices he made in this musical effort just feel unnatural. The songs in Portuguese are the most beautiful, but even then I feel like I'm riding a snowboard carried by the same beats and sounds that are in every other song in this album. I guess what I'm trying to say is that nothing really works in this album. The sound tries to mess samba, hip-hop, and pop, but their are way too many loose ends to actually work. I hope that Sergio Mendes continues to make good music, but if he continues to make music like this his career will most likely come to a halt.… Expand

    Timeless is a mixed bag, but it's not because of Mendes. His own playing and arranging is utterly elegant.
