It must have been much more fun to record all of these tracks than it is to listen to them.

There is no common thread, no thematic continuity and no real obvious reason behind any decision-making. It's an EP that is bound to raise the age-old philosophical question, "What is an EP for?"

(together) would have made more sense as a second disc in a deluxe version of Burst Apart, where uber-fans who needed variations on the songs would've thought nothing of taking the extra plunge. Unfortunately, as a separate release, it just doesn't have the legs to stand on its own.

(together) is still a decent collection for hardcores that couldn't get enough of the Antlers after Burst Apart... but casual listeners might be left confused, bored and, well - bummed.

(together) is borderline unlistenable taken as a whole.

It is neither a change of direction, nor chock full of revelatory bonus tracks. But as a collection of outtakes and remixes from Burst Apart, it works fine.

A hodgepodge of reheated, occasionally indulgent ephemera left over from the band's second full-length, Burst Apart. [#39, p. 73]
