The album leaps between influences of Hawaiian music, classic indie rock, '70s-era orchestration, and country -- all very very delicately, as is Aden's way.
-
While there's nothing on Topsiders that's outright bad (except perhaps "Mango Tree", but maybe that's just me), it is, all in all, a frustrating record.
-
MagnetA note-cramming session heavy on the Little Feat and light on the Sea And Cake. [#55, p.70]

The sound and songs of [Aden's fourth album, Topsiders]... are no different whatsoever from the band's already homogenous and uncharacteristic previous three.
