Torres is an album that is pulsating with life.

It’s wrought with haunting, high-stakes emotions, but the strength of Scott’s voice means it never feels melodramatic or plainly vulnerable.

For a debut album from a gal who can’t even legally rent a car by herself, this is very impressive. She attracts to a wide audience, displays restraint and obscurity at appropriate times.
  4. Torres doesn’t really feel like a debut, let alone something remotely self-released–the songwriting ability and surprisingly fantastic and natural production allow for this journal-esque story to get its due.

There is a slight foal-legged wobbliness to some of her allusions, some of the ardour, a roughness that prevents When Winter's Over or Come To Terms from being a too-mature blend of Cat power and KT Tunstall. [Dec 2013, p.115]

anyone fond of latter-day leftfield singer-songwriters such as Sharon Van Etten or Waxahatchee will revel in discovering a more buttoned-up, southern version of their hypnotic relationship exegeses.

Mackenzie's amazing velvet toned voice is a perfect medium to perform this bunch of well-written songs. It's just a matter of time before she evolves into a fully mature songwriter, still this is one of the best debut albums I've ever heard. Full Review »

Excellent song writing and the vocals just ooze emotion. The instrumentation was also very impressive for a debut self- release. I certainly look forward to what Torres can do in the future.
