Tosta Mista fades like a film score and then hit you with a bang on "Clap." [Feb 2012, p.89]

By focusing on the sweetest of hooks amid some wonderfully retro-twanging surf guitar and licks from dusty Tijuana barrooms, it really clicks with immediate effect.... This is quite the upbeat treat.

Dammit if they're not real handy at no-fi surf-rock jangle ... an unapologetically upbeat 23 minutes.

It's beguilingly slapdash, but its brevity - seven songs in 23 minutes - nonetheless makes this a frustrating listen. [April 2012, p.98]

At their best – on ESP, the title track, or Jubb – Hooded Fang are the kind of pleasantly brattish garage poppers we've heard a thousand times before, and will hear a thousand times again.

There is a naïve charm to their rudimentary rock and 'Tosta Mista' is a sporadically great introduction to those charms.

While Hooded Fang's two-and-a-half minute pop songs are absolutely fine, you'll struggle to find the time for them when there are already so many better ones out there.
