There's something about how these tracks activate complicated astrophysical sequences dense with mathematical run-off that makes them have hi-speed, cyber-virtual effervescence.

Ufabulum easily stands as his strongest and most consistent work since Go Plastic.

It's still dance music, for those who can dance through a barrage.

At its best it is an almost physical experience. The two fundamental components (swelling synths and explosive rhythms) in the first case exemplify heart and soul and in the latter explode in every direction at once – the best tracks do both simultaneously.

This may not be the most challenging or experimental Squarepusher album, but it feels like a step forward for an IDM artist who's been at it for nearly two decades.

It's something that can be quite brilliant: to paraphrase Special Agent Dale Cooper--Squarepusher's path is a strange and difficult one.

Moments of Ufabulum, particularly the middle stretch, are all but impossible for me to remember after a dozen plays.

Ufabulum shows Squarepusher pushing forward some of his leanest, most unfurled compositions to date.

    Ufabulum abandons Squarepusher's usual 1 : 1 ratio of electronic : jazz in favor of 1 : 1, electronic : space adventure.

It's hard to dispute that Ufabulum find him in the form of his life. [Jun 2012, p.84]

Fan waiting for the true follow-up to 2001's Go Plastic may now warm their souls by the heat of his hard drive. [Jun 2012, p.84]

Ufabulum rises out of the muddle of curious decisions on the several albums before it, offering a true-to-form Squarepusher experience more diverse and ornate than almost any before it.
