    Flute and sax make the grab bag more interesting, though the dizzying range across 11 songs renders Unlearn a bit unfocused.

    Unlearn (Hardly Art), their full-length debut, lurches from Tropicália ("Where the Walls Are Made of Grass") to Brill Building pop ("Powerful Lovin'") to doo-wop (the title track), all with an air of shrewd dishevelment.

    While Savage and Kelly clearly get big kicks from genre-jumping and trying to trip out listeners, "Baby Boomer," "Michael Kelly," and "The World Never Stops" show that they can rock earnestly as well.
