Seemingly, emo is no longer a moody sub-culture, as one can't help but smile when a record is this brilliantly bombastic.
  2. The only thing I want to do at the end of Vices & Virtues is hear it all over again.

Above all, Vices & Virtues is a complete package that secures Panic! At The Disco as one of the most forward thinking pop-rock acts around.

The competition is tough for Emo's Most-Avowed Dramatist -- Gerard Way? Jared Leto?! -- but Panic! at the Disco singer Brendon Urie might take the golden compact.

Vices & Virtues combines the best and most memorable elements of Panic! at the Disco's previous two full-length releases, and the end result is their catchiest and most accessible effort to date.

These songs are missing some of the hyper mall-rat poetry that made Panic's first two albums such daffy fun. But the arrangements are tight, even when the songs get baroque.

If you were expecting some kind of creative transformation from the shakeup, this new album may be something of a disappointment, as Urie and drummer Spencer Smith return to the skittish, bombastic pop-rock of their debut.

Honestly I think it's one of their best jobs so far, The singles are fine but the true beauty of this album is shown with the 'least popular' ones, such as: 'Memories', 'Trade Mistakes', 'Hurricane' or 'The Calendar'. The instrumentation and the vocals are on point, some songs are simpler than the previous ones, but those songs will make you dance, or at least hum the tunes.
I also believe that the bonus tracks are a non-skipping pieces, some of them better than the ones in the original album. "Bittersweet" and "Turn Off The Lights" are hidden gems of this era.
Despite the split, the band found their way to make a phenomenal album and keep evolving at the same time.

Panic! At The Disco continues its winning streak with its third release, Vices & Virtues. The band takes a turn towards more “rocky” pop, which was enjoyable in more than one sense. Yes, it was nice to listen to more crunch guitars in the music, but it was also great getting to see how the band is evolving and trying to find their sound. This makes me excited to listen to more of their stuff. I found myself grooving to a great number of songs on this release, and so far this is Panic’s best score yet. I wish I could give my entire song-by-song commentary, but unfortunately the character limit prevents me from doing so. In general, I was a big fan of this Panic! At The Disco outing. Vices & Virtues had the best music yet from the band, with a more “rocky” sounding feel. That being said, their DNA is still very much intact, with songs flowing well into each other and wonderful use of strings (though here it sounds more like synths sometimes, which also sound great). The lyrics of this album were also an improvement. I was a big fan of songs like Hurricane and Sarah Smiles for this reason. Fans of Panic! At The Disco should love this album, as well as fans of pop rock (which I am a huge lover of). This album also reminded me a little of Fall Out Boy’s middle of career albums (Folie à Deux, Save Rock And Roll), so fans of those may find Vices & Virtues up their alley. I was very pleased by this Panic! release, and greatly look forward to listening to more. Highlights: The Ballad of Mona Lisa, Hurricane, Memories, Trade Mistakes, Always, and Sarah Smiles.

Panic at the disco never fails with an album. This is a solid album. They can do any genre, convincing me their nearly perfect.
