Some very quirky songs here, and a lot of range. Right from the 9-and-a-half minute "All I Ever Really Wanted Was A Good Time" to the 40-second "If You Dare". This album may not have hit the big-time, but it is some quality music, and paves the way for a (hopefully) bright future for My Computer.

The most original debut by a Manchester band since Squirrel & G-Man Twenty Four Hour Paty People..., maybe even Unknown Pleasures. [Sep 2002, p.116]
  2. Q Magazine

There's something truly peculiar going on here, and worth pursuing. [Sep 2002, p.110]
  3. It is one thing to make a clever record, it is quite another to make a clever record that could pass for a pop album, and which oozes humanity while simultaneously delivering a perfect snapshot of modern British life.
