  • Summary: The seventh album for the Atlanta, Georgia rock band features their latest guitarist, Luther Dickinson from the North Mississippi Allstars.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 7 out of 10
  2. Negative: 0 out of 10
  1. They're old-fashioned, but in the best sense: they're in it for the long haul, which the superb Warpaint proves beyond a shadow of a doubt.
  2. Warpaint mines the same Allmans-to-Zappa synthesis of influences that's been the Crowes' stock in trade but finds the group fortified by sharp songwriting and lace-tight, live-sounding performances.
  3. A much-matured (now fortysomething father) Chris ?nds peace and clarity through some of his ?nest, most poetic storytelling to date.

It's not a great album but it is good, bar a slapdash feel to some songs and too much squealing, dated guitar. [Apr 2008, p.100]

It's good to have them back. The irony is that they sound the same as always, but because they are so completely different than any music being made right now their sound is refreshing. Collapse

Very sold...love the addition of dickinson's slide guitar. Chris robinson sounds the same as he ever has. A couple of filler songs that are ok, but also easily forgettable keep it from being an entirely great album. Expand

Long time Crowes fan, this album is fantastic on 1st listens but fades with time I feel I am more interested in older material, still.

What a bore. There was nothing that close to what 10 gallons offered. Maxim's "educational guess" was just that and was very much prophet-like.
