It is honestly hard to identify an artist as guided by a mercantile approach as DJ Khaled whose only tour de force is to gather the major hit-makers of 2008. Yes, 'We Global' compiles verses from no other than Kanye West, Akon, Pitbull, Sean Paul, Nas, Busta Rhymes and T-Pain amongst many. Certainly the most popular artists of that time.

And guess what? They are all here on 'We Global'

And guess what? They are all here on 'We Global' to mess with your head and ears thanks to DJ Khaled who (as always) can't prevent himself to scream his name, 'we global' and 'we the best' all along this garbage record. If separetely the featured artists manage to craft something powerful, like Nas on 'I'm On' or The Game on 'Game' (please notice how original the title is), the whole product is a bunch of raging, messy and disruptive tracks. DJ Khaled, helped by The Runners, made a superhuman effort to produce the perfect tracklist of forgettable and unstructured songs. I don't even want to highlight the fact that tracks 2 to 4 all start with this weird exhalation sound.

If some tracks appear to be hardly decent the major part of them are just boring, uninspired, redundant and unnecessarily indecent. Please only listen to this album just to try to recognize your favourite artists' voices in the middle of an indescribable and tasteless musical mess. Stay away otherwise.

If you just judge this album based on the art provided and not your opinion of Khaled you will find this to be a powerful, refreshing piece of artwork.

What is wrong with the genre. The fake front. The obvious insecurities. Weak music. Kids stuff.

  1. Getting back on track, DJ Khaled's We Global corrects all the mistakes made on his disappointing sophomore effort "We the Best" and gets back to the high-quality control of his debut "Listennn: The Album."
  2. The overall stylistic consistency that made Listennn unusual now makes for an exhausting hour.
  3. This results in a lot of victories but not a whole lot of personality, and the closest we get to seeing Khaled's soul is the fact he tends to favor putting the Southeast's finest from Pitbull to Rick Ross on his tracks.
