    I think what Olympia B meant to say was 'this CD is the bomb.' jahn darnielle is amazing. listening to his songs is like listening to someone telling a beautiful story.

    This is one of those albums that a lot of people just won't get because, honestly, it's above them.

    Ok, it's not quite as brilliant as "All Hail West Texas" or "Tallahassee," but it wasn't fair of us to expect THREE flawless albums in a row. Still, this is a GREAT set of songs in Darnielle's trademark style... what it lacks in firepower, it makes up for in texture and detail. 9 out of 10.

    Every post-All Hail West Texas release will undoubtedly be labeled a "disappointment." The studio has obviously had an effect on Darnielle, but far from inhibiting his talents, it has instead honed them like an Iraqi scud. And like any scud missle, some spin in dissary, eventually exploding above the intended target, while others detonate as intended in a flurry charred metal.
