  • Summary: This Dallas band gained national attention by starring in (and winning) VH1's "Bands On The Run" competition/reality show. This major-label effort is a remixed version of their independently-released debut album, with two additional tracks.

  1. It is slightly schizophrenic, but the addition of two new tracks, together with Tom Lord-Alge's guiding hand shaving the excess off some of the songs, improves things over the original.
  2. Nothing here is gonna rock your world.

Their reliance on slight lyricism and meandering is painfully evident. [9 Nov 2001, p.110]
  4. The band doesn't exactly have a lot of new ideas about what a rock song should sound like.
  5. It's all pretty silly stuff, but if nothing else, it manages to establish Flickerstick as a frontrunner for the Varsity Blues II soundtrack.

Tough guitar scrimmages, soaring supergroup moments that last a lifetime, boner-like intensity, roto-toms--Astronauts has it all. [March 2002, p.130]

All those "official" reviews are so off. Remmber, its same people who said Nirvana would never be popular- and we all know they are dubbed All those "official" reviews are so off. Remmber, its same people who said Nirvana would never be popular- and we all know they are dubbed "the new beatles". Flickersick does not have a lack of knowledge for creating new material, but it has the opposite! Their sound is so new and DIFFERENT than all the other crap out there. The only thing that record companies have againts Flickerstick is that they arent on THEIR label. They know that the cliche rap-rock hybrids and teeny bopper stars will end soon. Flickerstick is gonna replace them! Collapse

I'm so sick of everyone including stuff from Bands on the Run in their reviews. Hullo! They totally exaggerated their characters cause I'm so sick of everyone including stuff from Bands on the Run in their reviews. Hullo! They totally exaggerated their characters cause they were on TV. They aren't really like that. Let's focus on the music here. Flickerstick is better live, but that doesn't mean their cd sucks. They are able to create memorable songs that stick in your head without sounding like a dinky pop act. They know how to rock out and how to be mellow-to be funny and meaningful. They don't sound like just any band out there, they have a sound purely their own-you can tell just by listening to a bridge in a song of theirs who it is. I wish everyone would put them in context-a good band-not some annoying tv characters. Expand
