After having owned the CD for several weeks now, I can confidently say that I like it. A whole lot. Having each song in B flat minor does make this challenging to listen to from start to finish without being a little irked by what one reviewer above called a "frustrating same-y-ness," and that is, in fact, the only place The Raveonettes fall short for me. Every single song, when listened to on its own, is excellent. As an entire album, it's a little bit too much, perhaps. If the songs didn't work so incredibly well, I would have given this a 7. The CD earns one extra point on the merits of each individual song, and one extra point for the exhilirating potential of it all. As an aside, even casual fans should make a concerted effort to see The Raveonettes live. I caught them in Detroit in May and watched the whole venue be won over by the performance. It was, bottom line, spectacular. Expand

Sounds like Timbuk 3 on "Psychocandy". This duo shows promise, but they need to find their own "cool".

Easily one of the best albums I've ever had the fortune of listening to. I don't understand the critique against the tracks sounding the same, though. They are in the same genre, and thus, they sound somewhat alike. *I* sure can tell one song from another.

A rockabilly Jesus And Mary Chain. [Mar 2003, p.114]

This band could, and should, go mega. [Jan 2003, p.99]
  3. As easily taken for a salute to '60s transistor-radio pop as for Jesus and Mary Chain worship. [28 Mar 2003, p.68]
