The best song comes early in “Ghostface Killers”, with an excellent rapped chorus from Offset that’s been running through my head since the tape dropped and Travis Scott sounding excellent as always even if he doesn’t say much anything at all.

Where the Super Slimey too often felt like a requisite Xanax-blasted victory lap, one notably soft on hooks despite the successful street chemistry of Beautiful Thugger Girls’ hit single “Relationship”, Without Warning exudes vitality and menace.

It’s short and cohesive, an enjoyable and uncomplicated 33 minutes of sheer exhilaration, filled with stings, itches, and cold chills. In one form or another, the collaboration comes as a surprise to all of us, arriving suddenly and carrying within the electricity and satisfaction of a good scare.

Without Warning is more than a Halloween novelty. Offset and 21 Savage turn their differences in delivery into an undeniable chemistry, while Metro Boomin's production gives the project a proper Halloween-inspired sound so their comparisons to classic villains like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees aren't in vain.

All the more powerful for jumping from comic invocations of Ric Flair and Friday The 13th to casual and viciously flippant references to Xanax and other addictions. [Jan 2018, p.78]

The trio's intent is crystal clear here: make hypnotic murder rap that evokes a screwface and head-nod. If horror movies aren't your thing, though, Without Warning might not be the rap project for you.

Like most projects that get recorded without the guise of a meticulous A&R, Without Warning’s billing never exceeds the expectations of any artist--rapper or producer--let alone offer a glimpse of what allows these individuals to rank amongst 2017 Hip Hop’s most popular figures.

Here you can find banger tracks such as Ric Flair Drip, but also some "grimey" songs like Ghostface Killers or Nightmare. You may get the impression that this tape is too homogeneous at first glance, but after an accurate listening you will definitely change your mind Expand

Out of the 10 tracks, there's 6 tracks where Offset and 21 are rapping together, 2 tracks with Offset alone, and another 2 with 21 alone. The album has a lot of positives, such as the very nicely made hook on "Ghostface Killers". I felt as if the album didn't get so much attention, with the song being the most known was "Ric Flair Drip". 21 and Offset do not fail to compliment each other throughout this album, with one giving the other ad-libs, and vice versa. Something this albums does very well compared to other trap albums is the difference among the songs. Each song sounds unique in its own way, primarily thanks to Metro Boomin on the production. Overall, "Without Warning" is a very dark sounding and compelling album. Expand

While the album doesn't push anything for 21 Savage or Offset, Metro Boomin seems to do his thing at his best on Without Warning.

While the album doesn't push anything for 21 Savage or Offset, Metro Boomin seems to do his thing at his best on Without Warning.

Offset, the most versatile and skilled of Migos, presents the extreme majority of lyrical substance on Without Warning, and without Offset I wouldn't be able to tolerate the ramblings of 21 Savage. Even so, Offset sounds like the same Offset; not overly impressively skilled unless compared to 21 Savage on Without Warning or his fellow members of Migos. Metro Boomin, as mentioned, produced the album nicely.

The album was better than the majority of albums in its sub-genre of rap music—music that 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Migos, Future, and Travis Scott dominate. It concisely summed up the little that can be appreciated from these 'lit' artists, and stayed in that lane, while barely scratching the surface of what we call "art." While Without Warning is more noteworthy than it's album-peers, in the grand scheme of rap and hip-hop, it's not the slightest bit remarkable. I might play this for my kid in 2027 when he asks, "What music was popular when you were in highschool?"

Typical generic western crap that Americans listen to pretending to be edgy.

Nothing missed in skipping this one.
