  1. Crucially, he shows all the sides of his personality, making this one of hip-hop’s most well-rounded albums of recent vintage.

Doesn't stray far from [his] trademark grimy style. [4 Aug 2006, p.68]

Amped-up, aggressive and with a deep love for our canine friends, he arrives once again, shadow-boxing to the max. [19 Aug 2006, p.33]

    Thrives on a classic formula. [10 Aug 2006, p.98]
  5. His raps lay bare his constant inner conflicts, with his garrulous belligerence set to punishing, pugilistic beats.
  6. It's more of the same old, same old.

X's overlong albums have always been exhausting, and this time he sounds bored and fatigued. [Sep 2006, p.100]

certainly not a classic or anything like that but its a lot better than most stuff out there and DMX sounds hungry as ever.. thats probably certainly not a classic or anything like that but its a lot better than most stuff out there and DMX sounds hungry as ever.. thats probably part of the problem actually.. its more like been there dont that.. DMX has to develop a new style, persona to stay relevant in the rap game.. he could learn a lot from people like LL COOL J.. Expand

Lets put it this way. I'm a fairly big DMX fan and I had absolutely No idea that this album was out. I was excited at the thought of Lets put it this way. I'm a fairly big DMX fan and I had absolutely No idea that this album was out. I was excited at the thought of picking it up and couldn't wait to hear it. All I've gotta say is that I'm severely disappointed in this album,. It lacks in effort, as if people would buy this album JUST because it has his name on it. Dude, you can't get away with that. It's almost as if he went broke and released an album in a rush just to get back some coin. He's been headed steadily downwards ever since "It's dark and hell is hot". Let's hope he come's back and finishes off his career strongly, I can't bare to remember him this way. Terrible. Expand
