Like any good exorcism, Year Of The Witch allows Ryff to share and shed what's haunting him.

The album might be a brooding thought battle, but with the support of dreamy, female sopranos, the burdens become bearable.

Races struggle hard with noteworthiness, which is a bit of a death knell in this day and age.

The third album from indie rock British formation Races - "Year Of The Witch" is an CD which might somehow be associated with the achievements of Arcade Fire - mainly through the songs "Big Broom" and "Walk Through The Fire" which provide a positive melodic experience, but in a slightly simplified and more accessible form. There here are also more toned compositions, such as "Do Not Be Cruel" or acoustic "Living Cruel And Rude." Expand
