While it does lack the sprawling, cinematic vibes of the previous two Quasimoto albums (and most of the skits), it will appeal to fresh ears for its lack of the sometimes-difficult segmentation and abrupt change-ups in which those records often mired.

The result is a rap album that fundamentally challenges the notion of what a compilation is.

Yessir Whatever may not be as essential as other titles in the extensive Madlib library, but is definitely worth checking out if you dig the id of his art.

Yessir Whatever suffers from being disjointed and a bit too much like a sketchbook, but the album is pulled together from 12 years of archival recordings, some of them previously released on rare comps and out-of-print vinyl.

Yessir Whatever captures a classic hip-hop sound, yet feels futuristic.

The third Quasimoto LP is a jumble of rare and unreleased tracks but still a fine stoner-rap set.

Half of the songs here are as good as the highs of the first two albums.... Much of the rest is the victim of Madlib's infuriating tendency to leave things in fragments. [Jun 2013, p.54]
