Yucca is pure pop primitivism that's all distorted vocals and fuzzy guitar swirls, just like The Jesus And Mary Chain never happened. [Aug 2011, p.126]

Having played with Wild Nothing, Titus Andronicus, Crocodiles and Male Bonding they are finely adept in the art of live performance and worth catching. But the album? Yeah it's alright: simple and catchy fuzz pop.

While there's nothing particularly wrong with looking to the past for influences, Yucca struggles at times beneath the weight of those it seeks to emulate.

Regardless of how they describe it, it's all code for "this sounds absolutely awful." There's really no excuse for something that sounds this bad in 2011 except as an aesthetic choice.
