  1. Sep 27, 2011
Zig Zaj sounds more like a rehash than the entirely new recipe that music fans are undoubtedly looking for.
  2. Sep 27, 2011
Zig Zaj is predictably unpredictable, something else again for the artist.
  3. Sep 27, 2011
Zig Zaj feels like he's straining a little too hard to make every song different from the last, where he's actually become pinned down by the "eclectic" reputation he's accrued, forcing him to make unwise decisions just to keep a certain degree of diversity afloat in his work.

The 10-minute penultimate track "Tumtum," in particular, is a tiny masterpiece of mood, stamina, and insistent rhythm, built sparingly on overlapping percussion and waves of sound. More of this kind of thing is what will squeak Boom Bip farther from the then and the now, and closer to what comes afterward.
