  • Summary: This is the second album from the post-punk outfit, one of the edgier, less-mainstream bands on the current New York underground circuit.

  1. Zoo Psychology's refrains are faster, shorter, and more efficient than ever.

It sounds like a war against music. [#60, p.97]
  3. Ex Models make the cleanest and most non-metal racket you're likely to find. [Jul 2003, p.113]
  4. This is an odd album, weirdly compelling and madly frustrating.
  5. Zoo Psychology is gritty, and crazy, and at times, almost maddening.
  6. Zoo Psychology is a phenomenal 20-minute experience, if only for its sheer insanity. The songs aren’t consistently strong enough for it to be remembered too long down the road, but it does make for a thrilling listen.
  7. This band is awfully good at being annoying.

This album manages to make a bunch of annoying genres catchy. Too bad it's too good to be hip.

With the new wave of hipster NY bands of late, these guys lack both the fashion and the substance. Technicality can't buy you cred when it's so bloody dull and innocuous. Expand
