Adam Hart-Davis

Biography: Adam Hart-Davis began his TV career as a researcher on shows such as Arthur C Clarke's World Of Mysterious Powers, before creating and producing the long-running schools programme Scientific Eye.
His life changed in 1990 when, in an attempt to get fit, he bought a bicycle and started riding everywhere instead of driving. Shortly afterwards, he came across a local landmark while out riding. The building turned out to be the birthplace of Joseph Priestley, the man who discovered oxygen. Thus was born the idea for Local Heroes, the show that made a star of Adam Hart-Davis... and his bicycle!
As his list of TV credits suggests, Adam is an enthusiastic populariser of science, and has won many awards for his efforts in this area - as well as eight honorary degrees. He has also presented TV and radio programmes on history and literature, and when he's not busy with his broadcast work he also writes books and is a professional photographer specialising in scientific subjects.
