Biography: Alexis is a native of Houston, Texas. Her Spanish-speaking parents encouraged her to try community theater at the age of eight to help her overcome her shyness. She eventually appeared in local productions of Our Town and The Wizard of Oz, before gaining work as a model. She did a year of film major at New York University's prestigious Tisch School of Arts, but didn't complete her degree. In 2002, she was voted one of People Magazine's "Hottest Stars Under 25." She is best-known for her role on Gilmore Girls. She also gained recognition for her role in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
