Andrew Susskind

Biography: Andrew Susskind is an independent television producer and director in Los Angeles. As a producer and a television executive, Mr. Susskind has been involved in a wide range of primetime network television programs.
Most recently, Mr. Susskind, in partnership with Castle Rock Television, secured the rights to the award-winning British situation comedy ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES for adaptation to an American prime time series. Prior to this, he executive produced, also in association with Castle Rock, the half-hour pilot YES, MR. MOON, starring Tony Award-winning actor Ruben Santiago-Hudson, and the ABC television series THEA, starring comedienne Thea Vidale and singer-actress Brandy.
In addition to his work as a producer, Mr. Susskind has also recently established himself as a director of half-hour comedies, having directed multiple episodes for CBS, ABC, UPN, and the WB over the past several seasons. Prior to becoming an independent producer and director, Mr. Susskind

Prior to becoming an independent producer and director, Mr. Susskind served as President of Television at Imagine Entertainment from June of 1990 until the division's merger into Universal Television in April 1991. During his tenure, the company produced the series PARENTHOOD for NBC, MY TALK SHOW for first-run syndication, and the movie CONAGHER for TNT.
Before Imagine, he served as President of the television division of Weintraub Entertainment Group for three years.
Building the division from a start-up, Mr. Susskind supervised the development and production of a number of network series pilots as well as one of the highest-
rated MOW's of the 1980's, THE KAREN CARPENTER STORY for CBS. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Susskind was Senior Vice President , Comedy Development at Embassy Television, where he developed and sold MARRIED…WITH CHILDREN and WOMEN IN PRISON to Fox Broadcasting, 227 and SWEET SURRENDER to NBC, THE CHARMINGS to ABC, and TRIAL & ERROR to CBS.

Before moving to Los Angeles, he co-founded the New York-based The Susskind Company with his late father, producer and talk-show moderator David Susskind. While there he produced the CBS movie of the week RITA HAYWORTH: THE LOVE GODDESS, starring Lynda Carter; the Hallmark Hall of Fame Productions of DEAR LIAR, starring Jane Alexander and Edward Herrmann, and CASEY STENGEL, starring Charles Durning; and the PBS Special Presentations of IAN McKELLEN ACTING SHAKESPEARE for IBM, and JFK: A ONE-MAN SHOW, starring Mike Farrell for American Standard. Mr. Susskind's background also includes stints in drama and comedy development at Time-Life Films, where he was the associate producer of the theatrical film, LOVING COUPLES, starring Shirley MacLaine and James Coburn.

Mr. Susskind has also been active in a number of non-profit organizations. He served for nine years on the Board of Trustees, the last four as President, of The Center for Early Education, an independent elementary school in West Hollywood. He has also served on the Los Angeles advisory board for Facing History and Ourselves, the educational organization dedicated to encouraging students to examine racism and prejudice as a means to creating a more humane society. He has also been on the advisory committee and served asindustry co-chair of the IMAGEN AWARDS, which recognize and honor positive portrayals of the Hispanic culture in television and motion pictures.

Mr. Susskind is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and an honors graduate of Harvard College. He and his wife Toni are the proud parents of two children, Zachary and Sydney.
