Anwan Glover

Biography: Glover grew up in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Washington D.C. He became interested in acting after appearing in a locally produced film. After receiving some professional acting lessons, he got his big break. He is best known for his role as Slim Charles in the highly acclaimed HBO's series "The Wire". To music lovers in D.C., he was first known as Big G, a founding member of a Go-Go band, the Bankyard Band. Go-Go is part of the funk music genre and is an interactive entertainment experience. Go-Go relies heavily on percussion and "call-and-response" with audience members. Glover's deep bass voice calls attention to songs or topics on his radio show at a well known urban station in D.C., WKYS.
