Bruno is the son of a Swiss father and an Italian mother, who immigrated from Northern Italy to Switzerland just before the second World War.
He visits school in Zurich, but he leaves high-school just before graduating, because he wants to become actor. He goes the a small acting "company" where his talent is recognized immediately and so he got his first film role with 19 in a movie by Karl Suters.
Brono moves on and plays theater in Goettingen, Germany, but his absolute break through he has with in a play by Peter Zadek in Bremen, Germany.
In the early 60s the new German film is born (the first after war productions in West-Germany). He does several films with huge success and in 1972 he is invited to play at the Theater Festival of Salzburg, Austria.
From now on his career reaches new levels with every project. So he plays in Wim Wenders movie The American Friend in 1977.
After that he works with all directors that have a name in Europe: Jeanne Moreau, Eric Rohmer and Wolfgang Petersen.
He produces film and plays in theater as one of the most famous German speaking actors.
His biggest mistake in his career was when he turned down the offer of Steven Spielberg to play in the movie Schindler's List.
Although he refused to take this big chance he got all-international recognition with his most famous role in Der Untergang - The Downfall: Hitler and the End of the Third Reich (2004) where he played Adolf Hitler perfect.… Expand
