Chris Simmons

Biography: Every bit as cheeky as his on screen persona as DC Mickey Webb in the Bill, Chris almost spent his life working on the river in the Simmons family boat business. After leaving school at the age of 16, he began a 5-year apprenticeship like his father and grandfather before him. After just 5 months he realised he didn't want his life all mapped for him so began to search for his true calling. A family friend rang with news of a scholarship at a London drama school - and for only the second time in his life, Chris headed for the London based auditions.
He won the place, but as the baby of the school and just a poor student Chris had to suffer for his art while he cleaned and polished to earn his keep. After 2 years he graduated, fell in love, toured West Africa with a theatre group, spent a year travelling with his girlfriend, came back to London, broke up and became a jobbing actor doing whatever he could to fill his CV.
Then he wrote off for a Documentary called

For 3 months a camera crew followed him to castings and auditions etc. By the time the show had finished he'd won a part in a film (which he couldn't do it as he didn't have a work permit) and received an offer of marriage! "Then I came back did some TV work, played a villain in The Bill as a guest lead, and 6 months later was picked for a regular…."
