Clifton Powell

Biography: Clifton Powell born on March 16, 1956 in Washington D.C., is an American film actor and comedian that has played both villains and one of the most peaceful public figures of all time, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His career began in the early 90s when Powell played roles in Deep Cover, In the Heat of the Night, and Dead Presidents. Despite parts in numerous movies, Powell is perhaps best known for his work in television, appearing in shows such as Murder, She Wrote, The Jamie Foxx Show, and NYPD Blue. Arguably, his finest showing was his part as Dr. Martin Luther King Junior in the film Selma, Lord, Selma, directed by Charles Burnett. Winner of several NAACP awards, including Best Performance by an Actor in the movie Civil Brand, Powell has also played roles in CSI and Day Break during the 2000s, and showcased his comedic chops in the 2000 comedy Next Friday.
