Danira Govic

Biography: Danira went into acting through waitressing. After leaving Croatia, she arrived in London and was hired as a waitress in a large hotel. After a year, she worked at the National Theatre where she first was exposed to the theatre. Danira did a short course in acting and was encouraged to continue. She attended the Arts Educational Drama School. Initially, she was unable to pay for it, but she sent about 200 letters to everyone in the business. Someone did pay for the course and with some of her living expenses. While she was studying, she continued to waitress at the National.

Danira won parts in Sex Traffic, and the film The Mother, starring Daniel Craig and Anne Reid. Her role in the BBC series, Manchild was shown in Croatia. She hopes that her recurring role in Hotel Babylon will lead to more opportunities. The role of Tanya Mihajlov was originally written to be Russian, but the writers decided to change it to Croatian to make it more authentic. One of

One of Danira's hopes is that she gets the opportunity to work with Croatian director, Dalibor Matanic. Matanic directed the film, Fine Dead Girls. She's anxious to work again in Croatia, where she can speak her own language.
