Don Johnson

Biography: Donnie Wayne Johnson was born in Flat Creek, Missouri on December 15, 1949. Don's family moved to Wichita, Kansas when Don was 5. When he was 12 the family moved back to Missouri, and then back to Wichita for Don's senior year in high school. Flat Creek is located in the Southwestern corner of the state.

Don was the Class of 1967 at Wichita High School South. Their yearbook was called "The Sabre". Because of his successful audition for the Summer Repertory Program at the University of Kansas, Don was awarded a scholarship to the school. After about a year at the University, Don auditioned for a director from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, who was in town directing Cervinski's operetta, "Rake's Progress". Don was hired by the company and left the University. In 1969, Don appeared in Sal Mineo's production of "Fortune and Men's Eyes". This was his first major stage role. In 1970, Don starred in the film "The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart". This was his first leading role in a film.

In 1976, Don appeared in the TV-Movie entitled "Law of the Land", which was his TV-Movie acting debut.

Don received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series (Drama) for "Miami Vice" in 1985. Miami Vice was his big break, bringing him into the eyes of the public, and making a name for him as an actor.

Don received his star in 1996.

Don was married, in San Francisco, to Kelley Phleger on April 29, 1999. Robert Wagner was the best man. Don and Kelley welcomed daughter Atherton Grace Johnson into this world on December 28, 1999. Don and his wife Kelly had their second child, Jasper Breckenridge Johnson, 6 June 2002 in Los Angeles, CA.

Don Johnson co-wrote a two hour TV movie with the late Hunter S. Thompson. It was not used, but CBS bought it and transformed it into Nash Bridges.
