Faith is a famous country/pop-crossover music singer born in Jackson, Mississippi and raised in Star, Mississippi by her adoptive parents. She began singing at a very early age, singing at local rodeos, family gatherings, and churches. Her first public performance was at a women's club luncheon when she was 10. She taught herself to play guitar several years later. She went to college briefly before dropping out and moving to Nashville in an attempt at starting a singing career.
At 19, Faith left for Nashville where she worked for Reba McEntire packaging merchandise for her company. She sold T-shirts to support herself and had a job as a receptionist. She also worked at Gary Morris' publishing company. She was heard privately singing by a writer employed there and urged her to produce a demo. Soon after, Faith became a backup singer for Gary Burr. She was later signed by Warner Bros. Records and her first album Take Me As I Am (1993) sold over three million copies. Her debut country single "Wild One" made it all the way to No.1 in the US Country Charts.
She was married to a music executive named Dan Hill from 1988 to 1994. While on tour with country-singer Tim McGraw, the two eventually fell in love and were married on October 6, 1996. Her next albums, Faith (1998) and Breathe (1999), were both more pop-sounding, the sales of which surpassed her previous releases. Faith's works did not only sell well but garnered her several awards including five Grammys.
Faith did tours with husband Tim McGraw called Soul2Soul in 2000 and Soul2Soul II in 2006, which then became the highest-grossing country music tour of all time. Aside from her work in the music industry, Hill has appeared alongside Nicole Kidman and Glenn Close in The Stepford Wives.
