Gosho Aoyama

Biography: Gosho Aoyama, born Yoshimasa Aoyama in Tottori Prefecture, Japan, is a popular manga-ka. He graduated from Ikuei High School, and went on to study art at Nihon University, Tokyo, Japan. In the winter of 1986, as a freshmen, Aoyama-sensei joined a comic contest and won! This was the first major step in his career as a manga-ka.

One year later, Aoyama-sensei released his first manga named Chotto Mattete (Wait a Minute). Chotto Mattete was published in the weekly magazine Shonen Sunday. In 1988, Magic Kaito began publication in the same magazine. Aoyama-sensei didn’t stop there. In the same year as Magic Kaito, Yaiba started it’s run. This 24-volume manga won the Shogakukan manga contest in 1992. Two more of his works, 3rd Base 4th and Gosho Aoyama's Collection of Short Stories, soon followed. Finally, in 1994, Aoyama-sensei’s most popular manga was published - Meitantei Conan (Detective Conan or Case Closes as it’s known in the U.S.). On May 5, 2005, he married voice

On May 5, 2005, he married voice actress and singer Minami Takayama. Minamu is (and was still at the time) the seiyû for Conan in the Detective Conan anime.
