H. W. Brands

Biography: Henry William Brands, Ph.D., is the Dickson Allen Anderson Centennial Professor of History and Government at the University of Texas at Austin. He was a 2009 Pulitzer Prize finalist for his FDR biography : Traitor to His Class: The Privileged Life and Radical Presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (2008). That Pulitzer nomination was his second, having earlier been considered for The First American: The Life and Times of Benjamin Franklin (2000).
As of 2011, Dr. Brands, who holds graduate degrees in both mathematics and history, has published over two dozen books. Recently, he has been a regular contributor to the informative and entertaining History Channel series, How The States Got Their Shapes.
