Biography: Harriet MacGibbon
(1905 - 1987)
Harriet MacGibbon was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 5, 1905 and grew up in New York state where she made her Broadway debut in 1923. She worked on the stage for some 20 years. She later worked in films and on TV where she is best remembered as Mrs. Milburn Drysdale on "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1962-69). She played the wealthy, dowager types impeccably. She had the look and sound of a Yankee aristocrat. Among her film credits are: "Cry For Happy" (1961) as Mrs. Bennett, her film debut; "A Majority of One" (1961) as Mrs. Putnam; "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" (1962) as Dona Luisa Desnoyers; "Son of Flubber" (1963) as Mrs. Daggett and "Fluffy" (1965) as Mrs. Claridge, her last film. She also appeared in the made for TV films: "The Wacky Zoo of Morgan City (1972) as Mrs. Westerfield and "The Judge and Jake Wyler" (1972) as the Hostess.
